Board certification is as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP). They provide primary care services to patients ranging from young adults to older adults. They work in community settings such as homes, hospital-based outpatient centers/clinics, office practices, emergency departments, or student health services. Some adult nurse practitioners develop a particular emphasis in their practice that focuses on a specific area such as diabetic care, chronic cardiovascular patient care, or pain management but maintain a general area of primary care practice for all adults of any age.
