National board certification is as a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) from the National Certification Corporation (NCC).  They focus on the infant through the first year of life, including the family, across the continuum of care.  NNPs can care for critically ill neonates or neonates with chronic conditions and may be part of their follow-up care or well-child management.  They work in intensive care nurseries, well-baby nurseries, home, and high-risk follow-up programs.
